Time to Say Goodbye?

SO, this is something I have been thinking about for a while now. This is post number 785 (!) and I've been at it for about 2.5 years now. To be honest, I think my voice is getting stale and I am fearful that I'm starting to run out of things to say (which is ironic, given that I am a bit of a motormouth and always have an opinion). My feelings are slightly borne out by the numbers; site visits have been in a bit of decline these past few months. Though that being said, I hasten to add that this site has been about many things over the years, but it has NEVER been about numbers/visitors. I have said it time and again and the sentiment is real; our community here is small, but it's pretty meaningful. To me, at least.

So anyway, my thinking is that I make it to 800 and then kind of wrap things up. Maybe keeping the site active to post pictures, etc. from time to time. And who knows, maybe even use this as an opportunity to start something new -- or focus on building out Techdork a bit more.

So -- thoughts or reactions? As they say, all good things come to an end -- and I think the end of this site might be near.

Oh and I predict Lebron James is going to be a Knick. I didn't think so earlier this week but I am getting a vibe. Not that I necessarily want him by the way. From a PR perspective, I think the manner in which he has handled all of this - culminating in his live announcement tomorrow -- redefines the word overindulgent. You can substitute egomaniacal there, too if you'd like.

Anyway.....

Keep it up. You've got a loyal following of readers who look forward to your posts, and discuss them in great depth. I even taught Carrie to use RSS to keep up with you. Looking forward to meeting you in August.

P.S. If you're trying to encourage people to post comments, this was a good ploy.

Ha! Discuss them in great depth. I gotta kick out of that one. You're a good dude, Carrie's dude. My cousin did well. Stoked to meet you too. And not a ploy though I can see how it comes across that way. My Wife can back up that I've b een thinking about this for a while.

I would miss reading your posts....unless you pledge to keep in touch at least through Facebook? But ultimately the choice is yours, Howard...

Keep blogging. Either here, techdork, or on another thematic entirely. If you want to wrap up iamacancerman.com ok, but you should then start blogging something new

SERIOUSLY??

you can't.

well i guess you can but where is the fun in that?

traffic is slow across all of blogland. FB has really decreased the readership and commenting since it's so much more interactive but it can't replace a good blog post if you have a story to tell or something you might not want to share with EVERYONE you know including elementary school friends, neighbors, colleagues etc.

sometimes you need to post a bloody knee picture but know that might not go over so well with everyone on your FB friends list.
or maybe you are up for follow-up and need to vent about the stress of it all. or maybe you met someone new with cancer?

i get it though. my traffic is down, comments are non existent and i feel like I'm actually out of fresh ideas and stories to tell.

and yet i can write a novel in your comments. as far as # of posts? I've got 2,101.
