Play Ball!

The Little Boy had his final scrimmage game today before the season officially kicks off next Saturday. During the game, a pretty cool thing happened. His coach came over to me and introduced himself. Then he said, "He is a terrific kid and it's obvious he absolutely loves baseball. I saw him at the tryouts and knew nothing about him, but knew right away that this was a kid who just loved to play baseball. I had to have him on my team."

Not sure if there's anything better you could say to a dad, except maybe "Congrats to your kid on his Rhodes Scholarship.".

Not only is this guy a terrific coach (he really is -- he deeply understands the game and seems to have a unique ability to teach kids), but he has pretty good intuition as well and in this instance he could not have been more right. Because man, does the Little Boy love baseball. And for that matter, so does his Old Man.

So, let's Play Ball. Looking forward to a great 2010 Little League (and Major league as well for that matter) season.

Your son has come along way from his very first game. I am sorry I never experenced having a son play ball. Having 3 girls playing tennis and swimming kept me pretty busy. Enjoy!
